I'm back from Taiwan. It was not relaxing AT ALL. We were on public transport about a quarter of time--it was either bus, train, MRT, MTR, light rail, or being stuff 4-in a row in the back seat of a taxi. In a way, I'm glad the "vacation" was over. Now, if I only I can have a REAL vacation. >__> I'll probably be going back to work on Jan. 3rd. One day to recover will be enough. I still need to put some final touches on my application, and then there's my letter of recommendation I need to start drafting out. *sighs* Anyway, now to get some real shut-eye. I'll put up some pictures and videos later. I'll be having New Year's lunch later on today with my boyfriend's family. Tags: real life I'm at: Fremont, CA I'm feeling: tired

Okay guys (and gals). I know LOLcats is a popular meme right now, but WHAT IS UP WITH ( LONGCAT IS LOOOOOOOOOOONG )Okay, I will stop breaking your page now. ++++++++ Yesterday, arckyosuke and I saw the Golden Compass, and other than Nicole Kidman and awesome visuals, it was a bit of a let-down. :( For those of you have read the book by Phillip Pullman, you'll probably be disappointed by the ending. And there was no content in there that I thought was even religiously objectional. OH OH OH. And we got RADIANT DAWN yesterday!! ♥ I only played the prologue, because I'm going to make sure I finish my personal history statement before playing anymore. But yes, I'm definitely excited! &hearts! P.S. arckyosuke, stop spamming me with SPARTAAAAA memes! XD Tags: 4chan, fe10, golden compass, long cat, meme, radiant dawn I'm feeling: crazy

This was the 3rd year I went to Fanime, and though not one of the better years, it wasn't a bad experience all together. jaina_torsec: it was pleasure to go to Fanime with you this year. Hopefully we'll be able to enjoy ourselves more fully at AX this year. 1. The registration line was hell this year. Regrettably, I did not pre-reg this year, and on Saturday, arckyosuke, jaina_torsec, and I waited for more than 3 hours in line. We arrived before lunch time (around 11:30 am), and finally got into the convention after 2 pm. I have to thank shinjixikari for getting chicken sandwiches for us while we waited in line, or else I would have starved. My back was killing me throughout the day. 2. shinjixikari had the most awesome costume this year. One of the most awesome--he was dressed as Hard Gay. I'd never seen so many people stalking tailing him, and when he walked through the convention, it was like the red sea parting for Moses. 3. There were a lot of cosplayers this year, and I'm sure everybody knew about the Gladiators (or was that cosplayers from 300)? I admit, their presence really stirred up the convention. :p I regret not being able to take a photo of a Fay and Sakura cosplayer while waiting in line; I should have ran out of line and tackled them before they went out of sight for the rest of the convention. However, I DID manage to get the Burger King. >D 4. It was a pleasure and immense inspiration to see Jo Chen at the convention. I also got an autograph on one of her prints. Somehow, after the convention, I've become inspired once more to work on some of my projects again. I've decided I'm not going to give up on writing or illustrating stories. That might have lain dormant when I lacked any kind of new inspiration, but I've recently got some ideas again. I'll always understand that nothing I do is completely original. As long as I can derive satisfaction from doing something, I'll feel like I haven't wasted my time. I miss the days where I felt incredibly inspired with a story, drafting scripts, sketching a character design, or something or another. I probably will not pick up projects like Dark Pride once again, but some of the stories that fed into my projects will be related to the ones I'll be working on. I'll make another post on some ideas I've been working on (mentally), and have decided to pursue. It's time celerity had another update. Most of the songs this time are going to be classical/vocal, and hopefully, stuff you don't have (because that would be the point of sharing music, right?). I recommend opening the links in another window because they are uploaded via sendspace. [Edit]: Yousendit links have also been added. Please let me know if any of the links don't work for you. Walking in the Air by Liam O'Kane. (3.7 MB) | YousenditThis is one of the best versions (if not the best version) of the beautiful piece composed by Howard Blake in the classic 1982 childrens' cartoon, The Snowman. It's unfortunate that the most popular version on YouTube appears to be the one by Nightwish *cringe*. Liam O'Kane was a former chorister from St. Phillip's Boys' Choir (now known as Libera), and his light airy voice is just perfect for this song. I Dreamed a Dream by Hayley Westenra. (8.6 MB) | YousenditHayley Westenra is a member of Celtic Woman, and a classical/pop singer from New Zealand. Even though some people say that Westenra's voice isn't deep enough to sing as Fantine, this is still one of my favorite versions of the song because of the clarity of her voice. There is a version of her live performance on YouTube. Ave Maria (Gounod on Bach) by Radu Marian. (2.8 MB) | YousenditThis one is kind of an odd clip. Marian, a Romanian singer, is probably the closest modern example to what a classical castrato would sound like. I could not find a version of the same song done by famous soprano performers on YouTube, but you can compare his singing with that of Cecilia Bartoli (soprano) and Andreas Scholl (countertenor). The Last Unicorn by Declan Galbraith. (4.7 MB) | YousenditThe original version of this song was by the group America, but something about the way Galbraith sings this songs seems to fit the feeling of the 1982 Japanese anime/cartoon. Declan Galbraith is a young Irish/Scottish singer who became quite famous when he was 9. Tags: music I'm at: Fremont, CA Listening to: Liam O'Kane - How Can I Keep From Singing

Classes have started at Ohlone, and things are alright so far. It's interesting to have Dr. JB for an instructor again. He totally remembers who I am. He's probably even thinking, "Okay, when is she planning to LEAVE this place?" XD I talked to him during Biotech lab, and he said that my UCDMC internship can count for course credit. So I'm pretty happy about this. I just have to fill out a form and turn it in to the office. And 2-3 months from now, I can give an evaluation form to Dr. M, who will basically evaluate my performance throughout the time, and I will get a grade based on the evaluation. Not much else has been happening. arckyosuke and I have started to watch Arrested Development and Six Feet Under. Both are really good shows so far. And iconoclastiac has gotten me into listening to Mae. I don't know exactly what it is--it's probably the ambient guitar, but I really like their music. Oh, and the vocals are NOT annoying, which is usually the case with most guy singers/bands. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of English music. It's mostly been Libera, Enya, Billy Gilman, LeAnn Rimes, and now Mae. I've been doing some preparation for tomorrow, and arckyosuke helped me book a hotel near the hospital. I hope I don't get lost like crazy this time. ^^ +++++ Totally random, but I recently heard about Els Van Doren who fell to her death, because her parachute was sabatoged by her best friend and colleague. I guess it means that you don't want to get on the bad side of your coworkers, especially if you're a sky diver.
